After already having visions of a Monopoly Man running our campaigns, I started to think I was seeing things around Los Angeles — were there little Monopoly Man pictures following me around??
It turned out to be the prolific work of a street artist named Alec Monopoly. After some persistence, he granted me this interview to explain his craft and how he hopes to spread positivity through his artwork.
As Alec began to rise in the art world, he got an opportunity for his first solo show in New York City. It was an amazing opportunity for a young artist to get exposure. But as Alec would find out when the NYPD came looking for him, exposure comes with costs.
Back in Los Angeles, Alec was free to get back out on the street.
This video shows how he gets around, and shows Alec using his art to target Big Oil and Clear Channel.
